UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State community members who serve or have served in the U.S. armed forces are invited to submit a profile of service for an opportunity to be featured online and in the community.
The profiles are a part of the University’s 13th annual Military Appreciation Celebration, which features festivities and events including a home football game and tailgate on Sept. 21, as well as Military Appreciation Week later in the fall, Nov. 11-17. This year’s celebration will recognize and honor those who were a Prisoner of War (POW) and those who are still Missing in Action (MIA) service members and their families.
The profiles may be published on the University’s Military Appreciation website. Individuals are encouraged to share their own stories of service. Family members and others are also encouraged to submit a profile on behalf of any Penn Stater who currently serves or has served.

Penn State has a longstanding and proud tradition of serving the men and women of our military through education benefits, resources, support and more. This year, Penn State will recognize and honor those who were Prisoner of War and those that are still Missing in Action service members and their families through a series of campus events, including the military appreciation football game on Sept. 21.
Through Penn State’s Seats for Servicemembers program, supporters can provide an opportunity for a service member to attend the Sept. 21 game by purchasing a ticket to be donated. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased online or by calling 1-800-NITTANY. Penn State community members with military connections can submit a profile of service for the opportunity to be featured on the University’s Military Appreciation website and other materials.
