Penn State Smeal adds six members to Alumni Society Board

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Jennifer Crispell, director of alumni relations at the Penn State Smeal College of Business, has announced the addition of six alumni to the college’s Alumni Society Board.

Kenny Allen, Gustavo Cotta, Josh Rubin, Caitlin Rush, Angela Shakur and Kate Speakes all started the first of two three-year terms on July 1.

The mission of the Smeal Alumni Society Board is to provide opportunities for networking, volunteerism and lifelong engagement to its diverse alumni community. The board serves in an advisory capacity to the Smeal Alumni Relations office and focuses on initiatives like Impact Smeal Day, the Smeal Mentoring Program, interacting with Commonwealth Campus students and first-generation students, the "Smeal In Your City" event and the annual Smeal Alumni Awards.

In addition, the board has a focus on recruitment and culture in order to maintain a diverse group of individuals and promote a culture of inclusivity, alongside service to the college.  

  • Allen, a 2015 risk management graduate, is a consultant with Boston Consulting Group.
  • Cotta, a 2022 Penn State Online MBA graduate, is an engineering manager at Boeing.
  • Rubin, a 2022 finance graduate, is a management consulting associate with PwC.
  • Rush, a 2012 marketing graduate, is the marketing manager of brand safety and suitability for Meta.
  • Shakur, a 2023 graduate of Smeal’s Executive MBA program, is the director of real estate for Aldi.
  • Speakes, who earned a master’s of management degree in corporate innovation and entrepreneurship in 2021, is the senior director of operations for Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits.
