UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State University Libraries’ Teaching and Learning with Technology is offering a Provost Endorsement Program: AI-Enhanced Pedagogy for the fall 2024 semester that is designed to help University faculty and staff both explore and integrate generative AI technologies into their teaching practices. Enrollment will be open through Monday, Sept. 30.
To complete the endorsement program, participants must attend seven events, including three awareness/exploration events and four literacy activities/events. Additionally, participants will complete two reflection activities and record one video. Activities will be a combination of synchronous and asynchronous experiences, in-person and online, and will be tracked using Canvas.
Teaching and Learning with Technology is sponsoring the program with contributing expertise and events from Commonwealth Campus instructional designers, the University Libraries, and Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence. The goal of this endorsement is to help create pathways to support student use of generative AI in learning activities.
By completing this endorsement, participants will:
- Identify teaching and/or learning opportunities for equity, ethical practices, or disciplinary skills afforded by generative AI technologies.
- Explore and use at least three generative AI tools.
- Review and revise a course or teaching approach with generative AI to support student success.
- Create a video of an instructional philosophy with generative AI that could be given to students.
