UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Summer hours at Penn State University Libraries’ locations University-wide begin Sunday, May 5, and continue through Sunday, Aug. 25. Hours vary across University Park and Commonwealth Campus Libraries’ locations and are listed on the University Libraries website on the Hours and Locations page.

On the University Park campus, Pattee Library and Paterno Library will open its doors weekdays at 7:45 a.m., closing at 6 p.m., and will be open 1 to 6 p.m. Sundays, and closed Saturdays.

University Park branch libraries have varied summer hours. The Architecture and Landscape Architecture Library, Engineering Library and Physical and Mathematical Sciences Library will be open noon to 5 p.m. weekdays, closed weekends. The Fletcher M. Byrom Earth and Mineral Sciences Library will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, closed weekends.

However, the Engineering Library will be closed Thursday, Aug. 1, through Sunday, Aug. 18, to relocate to its new space. It will reopen Monday, Aug. 19, in the new West 1 Building and resume noon to 5 p.m. weekday hours through Friday, Aug. 23.

All locations will be closed the federal holidays of May 27, Memorial Day; June 19, Juneteenth; and July 4, Independence Day. On Friday, July 5, most locations will be closed to the public.

Throughout the summer the Ask a Librarian service will be available to provide help by live chat and email.

Even when the University Libraries’ doors are closed, a multitude of born-digital and digitized resources are available for library users at libraries.psu.edu. While some online content is limited to Penn State students, faculty and staff because of licensing requirements, Pennsylvania residents and Penn State Alumni Association members have borrowing privileges for items in the Libraries’ catalog at all locations University-wide. In addition, Pennsylvania residents have on-site access to digitized content through University Libraries public computers and the creation of a Penn State Limited Access Account.
